If you read her blog and the comments given by her a few things clearly come into view;

1. The stuff about giving back the baby happened a while after in a meeting from a social worker point of view and not directly hospital and no other doctors where present.

2. The girl was mentally ill and already under care from her mother who in the discussion had been identified as the primary caretaker.

3. The doctor clearly tells the story to prove her point and makes it look a lot worse than it really is and when asked about the details refers to namecalling etc.

While I in NO WAY advocate what that girl did, we live in a society where MANY parents don't talk to their kids about sex, they don't educate them on pregnancy and then they threaten that if either happen the child will be beat, kicked out or worse..most likely she lives in a home like that and decided that what she'd have coming to her was worse than flushing a baby (obviously this isn't logical but have you ever met a logical 16 year old?) she was full of hormones, a teenager, and she freaked out simply put. The Hospital is the BIGGEST D-Bag EVER because they should have placed that child in protective custody until the mother could receive proper counseling, education, get a job etc. And learn what it means to be a mother.
